CATE PARSONS
Cate Parsons is a freelance sculptor and painter who lives in the North Laine area of Brighton. She grew up in rural Essex and her work is strongly influenced by organic shapes and the natural vigour of the countryside.
Her degree work focused on stonecarving, from 2002 - 2004 she trained under the mentorship of sculptor David Whipp. He taught her how to weld in mild steel and it is now her preferred medium.
Sculpturally her work is notable for powerful silhouettes and capturing the ‘essence’ of a subject by describing its balance and locomotion.
As well as galleries and exhibitions Cate exhibits each year in the Artists Open Houses during the Brighton Festival. She is also a member of the Sussex Society of Painters, Sculptors and Engravers and the Surrey Sculpture Society.
