CATE PARSONS

Cate Parsons is a freelance sculptor and painter who lives in the North Laine area of Brighton. She grew up in rural Essex and her work is strongly influenced by organic shapes and the natural vigour of the countryside.

Her degree work focused on stonecarving, from 2002 - 2004 she trained under the mentorship of sculptor David Whipp. He taught her how to weld in mild steel and it is now her preferred medium.

Sculpturally her work is notable for powerful silhouettes and capturing the ‘essence’ of a subject by describing its balance and locomotion.

She shares a warehouse studio with the artist Martin Thomas located in Hove. If you want to visit the studio to see new work in progress, please phone to arrange a date and viewing time.

As well as galleries and exhibitions Cate exhibits each year during the Brighton Festival, she is also Vice-chair of Central Brighton Artists, and a member of the Sussex Society of Painters, Sculptors and Engravers and the Surrey Sculpture Society.
